A House in Wood and Concrete

One material story from room to room: oak millwork, plaster walls and a calm gray-brown palette.

We designed the millwork as part of the architecture, not added after it: oak runs from the living room bench to the bedroom closets.

Main bedroom with a full oak headboard wall and layered linen bedding — A full oak wall behind the bed does the work of a headboard, two side tables and the art above them.

Walk-in shower lined in cream fluted tile with brass fittings, a recessed niche across the wall and a stone vanity beside a garden window — The bathroom keeps the same materials: cream fluted tile, a recessed niche and the garden in view from the shower.

Oak-clad stair flight with a slim handrail and step lights, and a bench built into the landing with a terracotta cushion beside a tall window — Oak treads climb past a bench built into the landing, turning the stair into a place to sit.

White-line floor plan of a single-story house with bedrooms, office, open kitchen and covered terrace, set over a softly lit living room — Furniture was drawn into the plan before anything was ordered, so the circulation was tested on paper.

Millwork, walls and floors were specified together, so the house reads as one idea and everything has its place.
