Rooms planned around sleeping, playing and working at once, with the storage built in so the floor stays free.
Children's rooms fill up faster than any other room in a house, so these were planned in section as much as in plan. Beds, steps, storage and play all take the height of the room instead of taking the floor.

The climbing wall and the sunken ball pit give the room a place to be loud in, which is precisely what keeps the rest of it usable.
Lifting the play platform leaves a reading nook underneath it, so one footprint does two jobs at two completely different volumes.
The desk runs the full width of the window with oak storage above it, so homework has a fixed home and stops migrating to the kitchen table.
None of this is decoration that dates. The joinery is sized for a child who is about to be taller, and the pegboard, the loft and the long desk change use without the room having to change with them.
